Introduction: Penguins are birds but belong to the penguin family but they can’t fly.
Appearance
Penguins have short legs and they are black at the back and white at the front. Penguins sleep on the water unlike humans. Penguins are good swimmers since they are a type of sea animal. Penguins have webbed feet. Penguins have heavy bones to keep under the water but if they didn’t have heavy bones then they wouldn’t keep under water.
Diet and behaviour
Penguins eat fish, squids, small fish, krill and shrimp.
Penguins have a sharp beak to eat and stab their prey and penguins dive really deep to find their prey.
Penguins have two ways to hunt and they love to eat.
Some penguins hunt at night when their favourite foods are asleep.
Habitat
Most penguins live in Antarctica. Some penguins live in the ocean and live in New Zealand. Some penguins visit Antarctica only in the summer some how. Penguins do only live in the coldest places in the world.
Reproduction
Penguins lay eggs where their babies come from. Penguins come to land to mate breed. Penguins lay only one or two eggs. They need to keep their eggs warm. Penguins babies hatch himself out of its egg with its beak. Some penguins lay their eggs in burrows. Penguins takes turns to look after their eggs. They lay their eggs in the middle of winter. Penguins don’t eat when they are laying an egg.
Conclusion
Its kind of dangerous for penguins when they are underwater hunting for food because there are seals that go ahead and try to eat them.
