PAT test 2017

Kia Ora Everyone!
Last week we did a PAT reading test for next year when we go to high school. I sadly didn't go up a stanine but I got 4 more questions right than my last test. I thought that this test was quite challenging, I didn't understand some of the questions but I hope that next time I will do better! Lets just see if I achieve in my learning.  I am grateful that I moved up at least.
Here is a screenshot of my test results........

Lamb Heart Writing

Kia Ora Everyone!
Yesterday, Team Moana dissected lamb body parts and sketched them and tried to figure out what body part was on the delicate plastic plate. My group had a lamb heart but at first we thought they were lungs, but no it was a heart. We cut the heart open to see what it looked like inside, we then started to feel it because we had to write down some things about Sight, Feel, Taste, Hear and Smell. My most favourite thing about observing the lamb heart was feeling the stretchy veins. The reason we did this was because we were learning about body parts with Harold the giraffe. So I hope you like my poem!

Little bits of the heart were dripping red blood.
Amazing! Yelled my group.
My goodness it was so slimy.
Blood was getting on my hands.

Hunky bits of meat were splitting.
Ew! That heart tastes disgusting!!!
Arteries were snapping.
Ready to taste the lamb heart? Nope!
Tiny bit of the heart was cooking quietly.

Skittles (Taste the rainbow!)

Kia Ora Everyone!
This Tuesday team Moana did a Skittles experiment. We had to get some fruit Skittles, some warm water and a bowl. This is how we did the experiment. First you need to get out a bowl of warm water then get your Skittles, next you need to put the Skittles in the bowl, put the Skittles in position of what you want your pattern to be in, then you pour in your warm water. Next you just need to watch the colours disappear into the water and make an incredible pattern. Here are two pictures about what we did for the experiment...............................

The mysterious road!

Kia Ora Everyone!
Yesterday team Moana have been shared a slide with a whole heap of pictures.  Why are there picture you might ask? well .... .... What we needed to do was to choose a picture at write a describing story about the picture you choose using our senses. Here is my story.

The cold swaying wind whispered in my ear as I looked around the misty area.
The mysterious road would make you curiously wondering where it goes to.
The old creepy trees looked nude, black and rotten.
The branches fell every second.
The air smells as if it were so rotten that you
could become a sick mongoose!
None of the trees were moving not even a little, still as ever!
It was so slippery that you’d almost slipped on the mouldy grassy ground.
The place was so cold that you would get goosebumps.
Whenever you look around all you’d see were tall trees surrounding you.
Creepy sounds as if an animal was going to attack you.

Science Fair

Kia Ora Everyone!
This term we have been getting ready for the Science fair! We've had to get into groups and choose a science experiment. I have got a group of four and our experiment is a static powered ghost. A static powered ghost is when you rub your head of hair with a balloon, then you put the balloon over a drawing of a ghost and then it will float maybe even dance. I love the science fair I think it is so much fun! The people in my group is Lilly, Amelia, Braeden and Me. We are nearly done with our poster for the static powered ghost. I'm so excited because the science fair is tomorrow, so its on the 16th of August.

If you would like to give me feedback or tell me something please make sure you comment down below, then I will see it and reply!😋  Heres a photo of my groups poster and the people in the group...........

Foaming and Fizzing experiment 2017

Kia Ora Everyone!
This week in most of the mornings we have been doing some awesome experiments! The experiments that we have done is when you get blutack and you shape it like a boat then put it in water to see if it will float. The other one was to see what is would taste like if we put vinegar and baking soda together and find out if there was a difference in the taste of from the two ingredient being separated. I really enjoy doing science experiments and I hope we can do it most of the time! Since I love doing science so much I'm now really excited for the science fair thats coming up.

Auckland Zoofari 2017

Kia Ora everyone!
This week, most of the people in Team Moana went to Auckland for a zoofari trip, including me. It took 3 or 4 hours to get there from our school. We left at 10:30 am and got there at about three something, I'm sure. We did some quizzes and we went around the zoo in a group. There were six or seven groups of us. We had a night walk and one of the best things was that I am studying Tasmanian Devils and I saw one! On our way back to school we had Mc Donald's for lunch. Heres some photos of somethings that we did... Bye!

Term 2 Week 3 Recount

Kia Ora Everyone!
This week we've been working on recounts about something we've done recently. We've been working on similes can you spot any in my recount?

                                                My fantastic day

“Yay” I yelled with excitement. We were on our way to hockey. “I can’t wait for the game to start!”, I continued shouting with excitement. “And also gran and grandad will watch me play and see who will win!”, I mumbled under my breath. We quickly warmed up while we’re waiting for the other players in our team. Suddenly Olivia, our coach for the day, told all of us to go in the hockey turf area. Olivia let us choose a position for the game so that we’re happy there, and also because we’re good in that position, I chose the back position because I’m really good there. The game started and I raced to my position like a jaguar. A few minutes later Braeden and Toby came to the hockey turf, they were a bit late but Olivia sorted it out. An hour later... we finished our game then Olivia had to choose the player of the day which, Max won. After the game I went to get chips because I got a bit hungry- we played for an hour from 12pm to 1pm. It was a big game! We won our game 3 nil to us.

Next we had Willow coming to our house for the afternoon. We played with Poppy, my dog, then we went on the bikes. We happily went off up to my gran and grandad’s house to have a chat with them and see the cat. Then we had a bit of a bike around then went down an extremely fun, steep hill- it was magnificent! It led down to my hay barn so we played there and were swinging on a very old rope swing. We then went back home to have some sausage rolls, they were scrumptious! We had a bike around for a bit longer on their court, and then we said our goodbyes.

Then we went on my Chromebook and played games. We had dinner then we got in the car to go to the circus.
We went on our way to Kerikeri with Willow and there it was- the giant circus tent. Then we went inside to give the people at the entrance our tickets. We went right inside of the tent then sat down on our seats. Willow and I were just talking and looking around the exciting humungous tent and waiting for the show to start. A toy caught my eye, it looked like a spinning wind mill but a teeny tiny version. I really wanted it- I was beginning to become something like a greedy cat! The circus started, we watched the acts that the people had to show for the audience. They were hard but super duper cool and kind of impossible! I was happily watching while I was eating lollies with Willow. Then we watched the last act, and they showed all of the people that did an act again and “Thank you everyone for coming to watch our circus! And this is our last night here in Kerikeri so, we hope you enjoyed it!” All of the audience hopped out of their seats and got their things then went home. “Goodbye!” we all shouted. We got in the car then went back home, I fell asleep halfway there but I then woke up once we got to our welcoming destination. Once I got inside of the house. I whispered to myself “today was extremely fun!”. I slowly closed my eyelids and fell asleep like a sloth.

Kia Ora Everyone!

Venn Diagram Term 2 Week 2

Kia Ora Everyone!
This week we have been working on Venn Diagrams. Venn Diagrams are when you write down some differences about two animals, then you write some similarities about the two animals. For us we had to do two New Zealand animals. It was really fun! And its good for your learning because there could be some things that you don't know about that animal, but when you do a Venn Diagram you'll find out something about it. I'm doing a Kiwi and a Kereru. Here is my Venn Diagram.......
